Products overview on 30 378 weatherby:

The 30 378 weatherby is a .30 caliber, belted, bottle-necked rifle cartridge. The cartridge was developed in response to a US Army military contract in 1959. While still unreleased to the public, the cartridge went on to set world records for accuracy including the first ten 10X in 1,000 yards (910 m) benchrest shooting. It is currently the highest velocity .30 caliber factory ammunition available.

Brief history of weatherby 30 378:

Roy Weatherby invented the.30-378 as an anti-personnel/anti-material military cartridge.
The.378 Weatherby Magnum was necked down to take a.308-inch bullet. Redstone Arsenal sought a 6,000 ft/s (1,800 m/s) rifle cartridge for light rounds against, The.30-378 Weatherby Magnum reached over 1,500 m/s. The.30-378 Weatherby Magnum’s slower-burning, denser propellant exceeded the US Army’s 6,000 ft/s (1,800 m/s) requirement.

Weatherby released the cartridge in 1996.

The 30 378 weatherby for sale achieved world records in 1,000-yard benchrest competitions. Earl Chronister, firing a.30-378 Weatherby Magnum, shot the first 10X with nine shots to 3.125 inches and one flier for a 4.375-inch group. It lasted 30 years. Wildcatters built several.30-378 Weatherby Magnum variants. Hammond firearms and H-S Precision built rifles before Weatherby did.

In 1991, Shooting Times editor Layne Simpson pushed Roy Weatherby’s son Ed to release the.30-378 Weatherby as a standard chambering in the Mark V action. Layne Simpson manufactured a.30-378 Weatherby rifle in 1995 and supplied loading data for Norma Precision.
